Demetrius "Oaktree" Edwards

Demetrius "Oaktree" Edwards is a former heavyweight kickboxing champion. He was born and raised in Ayden and wrestled in high school. After graduation he left for the Washington Redskins for football, but soon returned after a mugging incident in Washington. Demetrius worked as a service station mechanic in Ayden while training in the ring with Bill McDonald.  After years of training, Demetrius gained the World Heavyweight Championship title from Scott Ross in August 1980.

Henry "Sugar Bear" Davis

Henry "Sugar Bear" Davis was a former baseball coach for the Pop Smith Little League All-Stars. Davis was born and raised in Ayden. During his coaching career, he led his New Haven baseball team to the Little League World Series in 1974.  Davis also served in the United States Navy and met President Gerald Ford in the White House after his team won the Little League World Series. After retiring from coaching, he worked as a car salesman in Greenville, NC.
