Dr. Nelda Ormond

Dr. Nelda Ormond was born in Ayden, North Carolina, and attended South Ayden High School. She works as a Professor of Music in the Arts and Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia. Dr. Ormond has had a successful career singing opera around the world. She has performed in the White House, the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, and several opera houses in the United States, Italy, France, Greece, and England. Dr. Ormond has spent her life promoting classical vocal music and spirituals by Black composers.
