Meherrin Indian Tribe
The Meherrin Indian Tribe traces thier roots to the southern region of Virginia near present day Emporia, V.A. After colonial encrouchment, the tribe migrated near present day Ahoskie, N.C. The Meherrin Indian Tribe has been a state-recognized tribe since 1971 and has provided eastern North Carolina a powwow for many years.
