Identify/translate the writing on the papers peeking out from the books. Why does the quill not have the feathery bit (barbs I think)? The book on the left appears to be floating off the table (is that a trick of the light and darkness of the tablecloth?). The skull is tipped over. The candle is not freshly extinguished. Is the clasp broken on the top book? Why do some books have clasps and others have ties and others have nothing?
