The first photograph features the Portsmouth tomb. The tomb is that of Governor John Wallace of Shell Castle, located on Portsmouth Island. The second photograph features a group of men selecting the site for the Lost Colony Theater on Roanoke Island. This collection of photographic negatives and prints is made up of photographs taken by Charles Brantley 'Aycock' Brown (1904-1984) as a resident and journalist of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
