Child's Desk Roll-top style model, roll-top all in one piece rather than individual slats, chalktray inside, crayon scribbles noted on the left side of the interior, luggage-rack style legs, built in 1913 by Willis Monroe Gilgo of Portsmouth Island, part of the Outer Banks Seashore off the North Carolina Coast. The original desk was made of scrap wood and cigar boxes. He made the desk for his daughter Ethel Gilgo when she was five years old. Donated to the History Museum of Carteret County by Kim Reilly, granddaughter of Joseph and Ethel Gilgo Reilly, great-granddaughter of Willis and Mattie Gilgo.
