- Jack Kerouac's scroll manuscript of On the Road
- Description
- On Christmas Day, 1948, Neal Cassady arrived at the Rocky Mount, NC, home of Caroline and Paul Blake, Kerouac's sister and brother-in-law. Kerouac and Cassady set out on a road trip to New York that appeared in "On the Road". In the final version of the novel, Rocky Mount is transformed into the fictional town of Testament, VA, a change suggested by his editor to keep the geography believable.
