Me Too Movement

The Me Too Movement was founded in 2017 by Tarana Burke. She started using the term in 2006 and eventually gained wide spread attention. This movement has taken down some of the most powerful men in media. High profile men who have been convicted include Harvey Weinstein, Larry Nassar, and Bill Cosby.

- 1 in 4 women in the US have experienced rape or attempted rape in their lifetimes
- 1 in 10 youth detained in juvenile facilities experience sexual assault or sexual abuse while in custody
- 1 in 8 people “had someone threaten to post and/or post sexually explicit images of them without their consent,” according to a 2017 study by the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI).
-1 in 4 women returning from the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan reported that they were sexually assaulted while they were deployed
- 1 of 12 respondents said they’d experienced at least one instance of nonconsensual pornography (aka “revenge porn”) in their lifetime. 25% of respondents were 18 at the age of first incidence.
