“The Flame That Never Flickers”
“For some the flame never flickers, and for those few there is eternal brotherhood.” -Dan Ray, Beta Phi #1
In the past year, Beta Phi has experienced a renaissance. New brothers re-established the chapter culture with events like Buffalo Wild Wings nights. The fraternity reconnected with ECU’s campus life and embraced the values of common loyalty, personal responsibility, achievement, accountability, campus involvement, responsible citizenship, and lifelong commitment that had sustained Pi Kappa Phi for decades.
April 11, 2026, marks the start of a new era. A new Executive Council has been formed including:
Archon Aiden Reavis
Vice Archon Connor Worthington
Treasurer Mason Hawkes
Secretary Zack Barbee
Warden Benjamin Arbogast
Chaplain Chadyn Roddey
Historian Tylan Walker
Philanthropy Chairman Joshua Haddock
Risk Management Chairman Nathan May
Standards Board Chairman Colin Baker
This exhibit gathers memories into a cohesive tribute designed to preserve Beta Phi’s early chronicle for future students.
Central to this effort is Ralph Finch—storyteller, collector, historian, and keeper of the flame. Finch’s vivid memories of The Niche, his donation of the PeeDee statue to Joyner Library, and his leadership in preserving Beta Phi legacy is responsible for connecting generations.
