Rivers Building
The Rivers Building was constructed in 1967 for the Home Economics Department and School of Nursing, located on the former varsity tennis courts along Fifth Street. It was named for Thomas Wilson Rivers. The Rivers Building was designed by Dudley & Shoe of Greenville, NC, and underwent major expansion in 2004. The project was designed to accommodate the growing needs of the School of Nursing and the College of Human Ecology. The renovated and expanded facility reopened just before the fall 2004 semester and now houses several academic programs, including Child Development and Family Relations, Interior Design and Merchandising, Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Nutrition and Hospitality Management.
