Mark Meltzer was raised in New York and graduated from Lynbrook High School. He choose East Carolina with the help of a high school guidance counselor. At ECU, Meltzer was involved in student government, serving on the men’s honor council, and was president of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. Meltzer graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history and again in 1971 with a graduate degree in guidance and counseling. Meltzer worked at West Craven High School for thirty years.
