Juanita Worsley was born in 1912 in Edgecombe County and grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She enrolled at East Carolina Teachers College in 1929 and graduated in 1932. While attending ECTC, she met her husband Rhoderick Thomas Williams and married him shortly before graduation.

Williams has lived in the Farmville area for more than fifty years and in 1999 was honored by the town for her service to many civic organizations including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Girl Scouts, and the Farmville Junior Women’s Club.
