Description
“Going to get Coronavirus from your roommates Starter Pack”, with a collage of images
and descriptions for what each image represents. First description is “Loudly proclaims to friends
on phone ‘I’m not even worried about getting sick’”, with the first image being of a woman
sitting on a couch while talking on the phone. Second description, “Daily cigarette smoker ‘I
heard it’s not even that bad if your young.’” This description is occupied with a close up photo of
someone smoking. The third states, “When you tell them you don’t want to get sick. ‘Even if
you do get it, I’m sure you’ll be fine!’” The partnering image shows a man giving the finger gun
and smiling at the camera. The fourth description says, “Gets upset when you try to talk about
the coronavirus. ‘Don’t tell me how to live my life.’ ‘I’m not going to live in fear of some
virus.’” The occupying photo shows a man with his hand up to signal “stop”. The last collage
description states “ In and out of the house for non-essential errands.” The photo following the
description shows the bottom half of a woman walking out the door to leave her home.
Reflection
I choose this image because I feel it reflects a personal part of my life during the Covid
Pandemic, which is how living with my roommate went. I have known my roommate for a long
time, I love her like family, but she did not take quarantine seriously. For those who may not
know, Covid19 was a virus that caused a worldwide pandemic. This virus is known to affect
many parts of the body, but the main part being your lungs, as it is a respiratory virus. This
pandemic caused a lockdown in many different forms of travel, jobs closed down or became
work from home jobs, school went online and people were restricted to just their homes unless to
go get food, in which they must wear facemasks everywhere they went. A big part of this world
wide shutdown was that people stay home as much as possible, stay away from others and try not
to spread the virus. Sadly, like the image demonstrates, some did not take it seriously and
unfortunately participated in some of these things, one of those people being my roommate. This
meme describes my roommate perfectly during covid, as she would give these exact excuses,
leave the house for no reason and would smoke whenever she felt the need. Luckily so far, I have
never had Covid and have been vaccinated, my roommate on the other hand, though vaccinated,
she has had Covid twice due to her reckless behavior. Since her second time catching the virus,
she has started to take the pandemic seriously and does what she can to prevent herself from
catching it. I personally wish it would not have taken this long but I am glad she does now. She
also being to take it more serious when she realized my family was considered “high risk” and
has wanted to remain respectful to them.
