COVID-19 and Alcoholics Anonymous
Covid-19 had a big effect on an alcoholic like myself and the way meetings were held after the
pandemic started. Most places, which used to host meetings, were closed to the general public.
We had little knowledge of this new disease and did not know what to believe. To me,
alcoholism is a disease also, one in which I know I could die from, so the question was, which
will I choose. I went to meetings, when I could, when it was abiding to the rules. Yes we were
separated, six feet, and I wore a mask, others too. The choice to wear a mask is for each
individual to make and I wear one. Then Zoom became more popular and many attended that
way. It's different from in person, but the mission and the message is still the same. Now with
more knowledge and use of ppe, some have come back to in person meetings, and others still
prefer to Zoom. Everyone wishes this pandemic would end very soon, it's something I pray for
every day. Will things ever be normal again, guess that depends on what you think is normal.
That's just my two cents on the subject matter.
