Eastern Carolina Village and Farm Museum- change to operations in response to the COVID-19
Pandemic
The Village has been officially closed since mid-March, 2020. The Board decided to cancel all tours,
fundraiser events, History Speaks, and Second Saturdays at the Village. However, when the
Board decided to have zoom meetings, they also decided that we could have virtual History
Speaks lectures. But, we would wait for the governor to tell us when we could open up with
all the other museums. Even though we are an open air museum, we complied with the
directive.
Our big fundraiser scheduled for April was postponed until October, but once more the Board
decided to opt for an April date in 2021 in hopes that the pandemic would have abated by
then. Another event was canceled, our Christmas Past Tour in December. Hopefully, 2021
will also allow us to carry forth with this fundraising event. Another favorite combined event with
the Farmer’s Market, our Easter Egg Hunt, was canceled in April, 2020.
The game of patience, as for all non-profits, has been hard, but this, too, will pass. We have
started to use this time to clean and re-furbish some of our buildings, using precautionary
measures to comply with pandemic measures.
