Description: Friend saying “what have you been up to during the lockdown?” Hand reaching
over a bookshelf filled with books about different topics.
I chose this meme because during the pandemic when we had to quarantine I was on tiktok a lot
and a lot of the videos that would pop up on my fyp would be videos of people reading tarot
cards or people doing love readings. I would also see people doing love spells and protection
spells. Other videos where people would do egg cleanses and videos where people would check
if they have been spelled or been tied to another person through magic. This meme to me does
not mean that I was practicing the tarot card reading but it just means to me that a lot of us
learned new things while we quarantined. Also a lot of people touched into their spiritual self

and used the time that we had to learn new things and create new hobbies. It shows that we
touched into different parts of ourself to maintain occupied during the pandemic. I for example
got into baking and doing stuff my self like doing my own nails and eyelashes. I learned how to
do makeup on other people, I practiced on my sister. I also learned a little bit of french during the
time I had to myself. I do not think it is the same for everyone. I depends on the person and how
the pandemic affected them. I was a junior in highschool so I did not have much to do during that
time. I also think that this meme can also represent remote learning. Picking up on a new skill
and a different enviornment for those who attended school before the pandemic. We had to learn
and adjust to learning over a zoom call, at home because we were quartinng so we could not be
outside. I personally need to be in a actual school setting for me to really learn. I had to learn
how to teach myself sometimes because by the time I went to college remote learning was still
mostly used and some classes did not even have a set zoom call and even if classes were in
person a lot of them would be switched to online making it difficult. I was set on the idea that my
class would be in person but it then switched online and i had a tough time because it was a topic
I had trouble with eventually I made it work but it was a process. My siblings who are in
elementary school also had a hard time because they have learning disabilities and remote
learning was difficult for them, even though they did have zoom calls and they would meet with
their special teacher, they still had a hard time trying to learn. It made them become frustrated
because they could not learn and being at home made them get really distracted. It is much
harder for elementry schooers because they do not have the same control as middle schoolers and
higher education. This meme could also relate to people losing jobs. They would need to learn a
different skill to work from home and keep a steady income. During this time a lot of people
started their own small business from home.
