Title
Getty Museum Challenge/ Hands of God and Adam
Description
This was created as an assignment for Susan Ludeke's ART 1910: Art Appreciation course. For this project I chose the Getty Museum Challenge. I chose this because it just seemed like there were options with this challenge and I was able to have a variety of things I could look at. The only materials that I used for this project was my phone and me and my friend’s hands. I photographed it by using my hand to take the picture of both of me and my friend’s hand to get the right angle for the picture. The artist of the work I imitated was from Michelangelo. The title of the painting was Hands of God and Adam. The date of this painting was created between 1536 and 1541. I chose this artwork because it seemed very cool and interesting. It was an easy painting to recreate. The only way it is in some way a self-portrait is because I took a picture of it, and it is my hand in the picture. But that is the only way I can think of it being a self-portrait for this project. This project was creative when it came to the way we had to put our hands in the certain position. It took a couple of times to make sure it was in the right position and just looked right. This was a cool project because it made me see all the cool art that I could have used for this project. It was cool for people that may have had to stay home because it gave them their house to be able to do the cool backgrounds for this project.
