I am a nursing major. My interests include helping others, being outdoors, and having fun with my friends. I took art classes throughout high school and I love to paint. Over quarantine I spent so much of my time painting when I was not doing school work. I forced one of my friends to dress up in attire similar to the clothes in the painting with me for this project. I made a tie out of a hammock strap for my friend dressed in the suit. I used pillow cases to cover our heads and placed them in a manner that matched the veils in the original painting. I also strategically placed us in front of flags on the wall that were blue and red to act as the background of the painting. I had to rearrange the flags to do this. The picture was taken with my phone camera by another one of my friends. The artist whose work I imitated is René Magritte. The painting is titled The Lovers II and was created in 1928. I chose this piece of art because no one else had done it yet and because it fascinated me. I admired the mystery and irony of the painting. The painting also represented wearing a mask in some aspects which I thought was interesting. This project was extremely creative for me. In college you do not have all of the materials that you would normally have when you are home and able to go to the store. I used items that I would not have originally thought to use. The Getty project was perfect during the Pandemic because it allowed people to use creativity and everyday household items to imitate famous paintings and works of art.
